LinkedIn has now become the world’s largest professional network on the Internet with more than 313 million members worldwide. Membership started slowly in the UK, however it has now reached over 16 million registered users.
Over the past few years in the UK, there has been a significant change in the way that the website is used. Recent research from Econsultancy suggests that “LinkedIn is responsible for 64% of visits to corporate websites from any social media site, streets ahead of Twitter.” This may be some reflection of the use of LinkedIn changing from a job searching activity to focusing more on connecting businesses and behaving as career development tool.
