National homebuilder sets down roots in Wakefield

Taylor Wimpey has purchased its regional HQ office based at Calder Park, Wakefield. The 10,000 sq. ft. grade A accommodation has been purchased by the homebuilding group who had previously leased the accommodation.

The move illustrates a growing trend for occupier ownership in the event of favourable market conditions whilst also marking Taylor Wimpey’s commitment to the region.

Jonathan Webster, Regional Financial Director for Taylor Wimpy Wakefield commented “As a business and following some restructuring, we have now achieved a well-balanced and sustainable platform for the future with 25 offices nationwide.

“Our strategic sights are set on the provision of consistent, high quality homes and consistent service levels and our current address meets all our needs in achieving those objectives. An opportunity arose to purchase the premises at a good price so we decided to take the plunge. The message is clear, we aren’t going anywhere.”

The company has occupied the premises since 2007 and employs 150 people from the local area.

Richard Dunn of Sanderson Weatherall who acted for Taylor Wimpey said; “Market conditions are ideal for well-placed businesses to make a choice about whether to own or lease their premises. Generally speaking owner occupiers stand to make long term gains as they profit from the current competitive rents on offer.”
